What happens in a consultation call?

You’ll do most of the talking and we’ll coach you based on your needs, whether that’s moving forward with your career issue, reframing your perceived problem, or talking through some business ideas. After the consultation, we’ll provide you with a follow-up email on which of our coaching options we recommend for you, or a referral to another coach who may be a better fit for your needs.

Who is this for?

Anyone serious about making change and wants to understand more about the coaching process.

Why are consultations now $5?

Moving from providing free consultations to requiring a fee might seem strange so here’s the story.

I gave free consultations for years and even had a high client conversion rate for individuals who took advantage of our offer. It was still not working for the business so I’ve moved to this model for the following three reasons.

  • A historical 40% no-show rate for free consultation calls. Not everyone takes a free session seriously. When someone does not show up, the team can’t necessarily do something else for the business or clients during the appointment time. It’s important to use our resources as wisely as possible to meet our goals (one of our company’s core beliefs).
  • A commitment to keeping my rates affordable. Business owners calculate their rates based on many factors, including the ratio of hours they spend on billable and non-billable hours to meet their bottom line. The no-show appointments were starting to impact the business in a way that would have required me to drastically increase my rates to account for the lost hours. I don’t want to do that to my clients.
  • A desire to work with individuals ready to commit to their careers. I don’t want to work with people who have no intention on moving forward with the hard work required to making change, whether it’s with me or not. I decided on the $5 price because it is approximately the same amount you’d spend on buying a beer or a nice coffee beverage at Starbucks if you were to network with someone in-person. I think that is a reasonable commitment.

And of course, if you book a service, I’ll take the $5 you spent on your consultation off the final price. If you’ve purchased any book of mine and have a receipt, contact me and I’ll waive the consultation fee altogether. Finally, I also will waive the fee if you are referred directly by a client or friend of The Opportunities Project.

I am super excited to work with you so go ahead and book that consultation!
